Saint Luke’s Annual Soup Kitchen Benefit Gala

Since Saint Luke’s is situated on Restaurant Row in the heart of the Theater District, many of our parishioners are aspiring, as well as professional, singers, dancers, musicians, and actors. There is a long tradition of these talented performers coming together once a year to produce a show to benefit our Soup Kitchen.  It  takes place in the autumn of the year in our own theater.  The evening begins with a champagne reception, followed by a catered buffet dinner, and then the jewel: the benefit performance.

The show has taken a variety of forms.  Since 2010, it has been produced as  The Urban Lutheran Home Companion, a take-off on A Prairie Home Companion. In 2018 the format was changed to a musical cabaret.

The Benefit is directed and performed by our members who bring their exceptional talents and commitment to our mission to put together an entertaining evening of song and dance to raise funds that support our Soup Kitchen. Recent productions have included a special guest star from the Broadway community.
