The Seventh Urban Lutheran Home Companion played to a full house on Monday evening, November 14. The cocktail hour featured the usual delicious bites with champagne and a keg of home-brewed beer, thanks to Christopher Lebron. Saint Luke’s Brewers continue! The show was entertaining as always with a mixture of musical and dramatic acts. Applause and laughter abounded!
Preparations are being finalized for the Seventh annual Urban Lutheran Home Companion, the congregation’s annual dinner and variety show to benefit Saint Luke’s Soup Kitchen. Cocktail reception at 6:00 pm in the Parish Lounge; dinner and show at 7:00 pm in Saint Luke’s Theatre. Tickets are $150/person. Come celebrate and support the work of Saint Luke’s Soup Kitchen!
We could not operate the Soup Kitchen without the help of our members, neighbors and corporate partners. Join us for a thank-you party to celebrate a great year of serving our community and a chance to meet other partners who share that commitment.
Pack your picnic lunch (no grilling); bike or take the subway to the Governor’s Island Ferry; ride across on the ferry and join us on the picnic grounds! Be sure to sign up on the list in the narthex with your cell phone number so we can all find each other on the island.
Don’t miss 46th Street’s own marvelous block party hosted by the Times Square Alliance and our local restaurants. Heartland Brewery’s beer garden will be back on the block; entertainment includes The Drum Cafe, the George Gee Swing Orchestra in the swing tent (with dance instruction), the Ebony Hillbillies and many more. “Tastes” range from $1 – $6 and give opportunity to sample specialties from the varied restaurants on the block and in the surrounding neighborhood. Come and taste the ‘hood!
Saint Luke’s is excited to participate for the first time in the Sacred Sites Open House. Regular members and visitors alike will learn about the architectural and artistic heritage of our beautiful church from the brochure prepared for the event.
Come and eat pancakes and sausages with maple syrup — the last feast before Lent begins. We ask a donation of $5 but all are welcome!
